Key SFJ operative Resham Singh arrested in Mohali for Anti-National activities

The State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) of Mohali has arrested Resham Singh, the key operative of the banned organisation 'Sikhs For Justice' (SFJ) and a close associate of US-based SFJ chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.

Chandigarh, June 19: The State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) of Mohali has arrested Resham Singh, the key operative of the banned organisation ‘Sikhs For Justice’ (SFJ) and a close associate of US-based SFJ chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. Resham Singh has been arrested for vandalising the statue of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar in Phillaur and doing pro-Khalistan graffiti across the state.

Investigation of the accused’s bank accounts revealed that the accused had received funding of Rs 10 lakh. Now it is being ascertained for how many years the funding was being done. What properties does he own? All the records of his properties for the last 6 years are being investigated so that the properties can also be attached in the future.

DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the investigation has revealed that the accused, on the instructions of US-based Surinder Singh Thikriwal, who is wanted in several UAPA cases, and SFJ chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, damaged the statue of Dr. Ambedkar in Nangal, Phillaur in the first week of June 2025.

Resham is a resident of Barnala village

Accused Resham Singh, a resident of village Hamidi in Barnala, had done pro-SFJ and pro-Khalistan graffiti in several districts including Patiala, Faridkot, Jalandhar and was absconding since then.

The DGP said, “During the Indo-Pak tension in May 2025, Resham Singh wrote provocative slogans like ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ and ‘Khalistan Zindabad’ to create unrest among the public and spread anti-national sentiment.” He said that the accused was also getting funding from abroad for these activities.

Resham Singh has previously been arrested in two UAPA cases—Karnal (Haryana) and Sangrur—for anti-national graffiti. Further investigation is underway in the case to identify other members of his network.

AIG SSOC Mohali Ravjot Grewal said that the police had received information that the accused was writing slogans on walls and bridges that promote rebellion and separatism. Based on the information, the SSOC team conducted an intelligence operation and arrested Resham Singh from Kharar in Mohali, where he was hidden by Surinder Thikriwal.

During interrogation, accused Resham Singh told that he got connected with SFJ network in 2019 through US-based Harpreet Singh alias Rana who ran a media channel called “Politics Punjab” (now banned). Harpreet Rana introduced him to Bikramjit Singh (USA), JS Dhaliwal and Gurpatwant Singh Pannu.

Was doing anti national activities

The AIG said that after being released from Sangrur jail in May 2024, Resham Singh again started anti-national activities at the behest of Surinder Thikriwal. Investigation has revealed that he used to make videos of every incident and send them to handlers sitting abroad, who used it in separatist propaganda. So far he has received funding of ₹ 8-10 lakh.
