Kuldeep Kumar not to assume post of Mayor today, program cancelled dur to personal reasons

On February 20, the Supreme Court had declared Kuldeep Kumar as Mayor of the Chandigarh.

Chandigarh: Kuldeep Kumar, who was declared Mayor of Chandigarh on the orders of the Supreme Court was to assume the post today. But due to some personal reasons of Kuldeep Kumar, the program of assuming the post has been cancelled.

 Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak, OSD to Punjab chief minister and leaders of congress were to attend the program but now the program has been cancelled due to personal reasons of Kuldeep Kumar.

 Notably, mayor elections were held in the city on January 30, in which presiding officer Anil Masih had declared BJP mayoral candidate Manoj Sonkar the winner by cancelling eight votes of the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress alliance and installed him on the chair.

After this, AAP and Congress alliance’s mayor candidate Kuldeep Kumar had challenged it in the Supreme Court alleging election rigging. The Supreme Court found the presiding officer guilty and said that Anil Masih has wrongly rejected eight votes of the alliance.

On February 20, the Supreme Court had declared Kuldeep Kumar as Mayor of the Chandigarh.
