Lok Sabha Polls: CEC meeting for Punjab today, first list soon

The Pradesh Congress wants to take some more time in view of the June 1 polls, but the party's MPs are demanding the distribution of tickets as soon as possible.

Chandigarh: A meeting of the Central Election Committee (CEC) of the Congress is going to be held on Monday regarding the distribution of tickets, in which there will also be a discussion about Punjab. If there is an agreement in the CEC, the Congress will release the first list of tickets for Punjab in two to three days. There is pressure on the Congress to distribute tickets as soon as possible as the Aam Aadmi Party has announced 9 candidates and the BJP has announced 6 candidates from Punjab.

Punjab has also been included in the CEC meeting of the Congress to be held on Monday. It is believed that the seats where there is a lot of tension may be stamped on Monday while the seats like Amritsar, Jalandhar, Sri Anandpur Sahib, and Fatehgarh Sahib are disputed because of political tensions.

Similarly, MP Manish Tiwari from Sri Anandpur Sahib has the intention of contesting from Chandigarh. It will be seen whether Tiwari’s wish will be fulfilled or not.

There is also a tug-of-war between the Pradesh Congress and the sitting MPs over the tickets. The Pradesh Congress wants to take some more time in view of the June 1 polls, but the party’s MPs are demanding the distribution of tickets as soon as possible.

On April 3, five Congress MPs also met Sonia Gandhi. It is believed that Congress can decide on the uncontested seats on Monday. All eyes are also fixed on the Bathinda seat because there is a possibility that Balkaur Singh, the father of late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, will also contest the election from this seat.
