Chandigarh : Voting for Lok Sabha elections is to be held in Punjab on Saturday i.e. 1st June. Before this, Punjab Election Officer Sibin C is going to hold a press conference today. In this, he will give information about the arrangements made for the elections.
The press conference has been scheduled at 11 am. At the same time, employees will leave for all the polling booths today. For this, preparations are going on in full swing in all the districts of the state.
At the same time, liquor shops have been closed from 6 pm yesterday, which will now open only after the voting on June 1. Police and administration are now on alert mode.
2.14 crore people will vote
This time a total of 128 candidates are trying their luck on 13 Lok Sabha seats of the state. Among them 169 are independent candidates.
While there are 2.14 crore voters in the state. Out of these, 1 crore 12 lakh 67 thousand 019 are male voters, while 01,01,53,767 are female voters.
5.38 lakh voters are between 18 and 19 years of age, who will vote for the first time. While 1.89 lakh voters are above 85 years of age.
Voting will take place on June 1 from 7 am to 6 pm. 25,451 polling stations have been set up.
