Ludhiana: 4 youths drowned in Sutlej, operation to find trace of bodies continues

Police is trying to trace the rest of the youths.

Ludhiana: 6 youths who went to bathe near Sutlej river in Ludhiana, Punjab, drowned due to the strong current of water. 2 youths were saved by the people nearby, but the current of water swept away 4 youths.

As per reports, due to the sudden rise in water level the youths slipped and were swept away. Till 10 pm yesterday, the police administration and the district administration were not able to send divers to the spot. Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Sahnewal assembly constituency Hardeep Singh Mundia also did not reach the spot, due to which people are very angry against him.

Giving information, Sameer Khan said that he is a resident of Chungi. He had 5 friends along with him, who had gone to Sutlej river for bathing. He said that he was bathing on the banks of the river with his other friends Shahbaz, Ehsaan, Misbahul, Shamim and Zaheer. Suddenly, due to the strong current of water, their feet slipped and they drowned in the water.

People saved Sameer and Shahbaz

Sameer said that when he shouted, some people standing nearby saved him and Shahbaz. Both of them remained unconscious for some time. According to Sameer, when he regained consciousness, he immediately went to Ehsan’s house. He informed his family about the entire incident. Ehsan’s family informed the police. Police is trying to trace the rest of the youths.
