Ludhiana ASI died after hit by unidentified speeding vehicle, police probe on

A 54-year-old ASI of Ludhiana Commissionerate Police died after being hit by an unidentified speeding vehicle on the highway near Goraya in Jalandhar, Punjab. The deceased has been identified as 54-year-old Balveer Chand, son of Madan Lal, a resident of Ludhiana.

The body has been taken into custody and sent for post-mortem. At the same time, the police of Goraya police station of Jalandhar Rural Police is investigating the matter further. At present, the accused has not been identified.

In the statements given to the police, Sachin, son of deceased ASI Balveer Chand said – his father was serving as an ASI in the Commissionerate Police of Ludhiana. Like every day, ASI Balveer Chand had gone to his duty. After finishing his work, Balveer Chand left on a bike to meet his aunt in Jalandhar.

When ASI Balveer reached the National Highway near Goraya on his bike, a speeding vehicle coming from behind hit him near the bridge ahead of Palaza Hotel. Due to which he lost control along with his bike and fell on the road. He suffered serious injuries in the incident. Afterward, he had to be taken to DMC Hospital in Ludhiana for treatment where Balveer Singh died.

According to the information received, ASI Surinder Pal posted in Goraya police station started investigating the case and registered a case against unknown accused on the basis of Sachin’s statements. At present, no arrest has been made in the case. Police is scanning CCTV for investigation.
