In a statement released by District Congress Committee (Urban) President and former MLA Sanjay Talwar, he mentioned that the party will release the first list of 50 candidates either on December 10 or 11 after interviewing the interested candidates.

The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation comprises 95 wards and the Congress party is expected to release the first list of 50 candidates by December 11.

Talwar said that following the directions of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, the meeting of the screening committee of District Congress Committee (Urban) Ludhiana will be held on Sunday (December 8) at the party headquarters on Tibba Road.

He said that the screening committee would evaluate all candidates who have applied for Congress party tickets. This screening committee is chaired by Rana KP Singh and includes prominent members such as Randeep Singh Nabha, Hardial Singh Kamboj, Tarlochan Singh Soond, and Gursharan Kaur Randhawa. Additionally, constituency in-charges from Ludhiana city will be present during the selection process.

As per the schedule shared, Interviews will be held constituency-wise, starting with candidates from the West constituency at 11:00 AM. Sahnewal candidates are scheduled for 11:30 AM, followed by the East constituency at 12:00 PM, Central at 1:00 PM, North at 2:00 PM, Atam Nagar at 3:30 PM, and South constituency at 4:30 PM.

Talwar emphasized that attendance at the interview is mandatory for all applicants, including female candidates vying for tickets in women-reserved wards. “The screening committee will compile a detailed report based on the interviews and submit it to the Punjab Congress President. Following the report’s review, the party’s high command will make the final decision regarding the candidates’ selection,” he said.
