Ludhiana: Farmers blocks road before Amit Shah rally, scuffled with police

On receiving information about the arrival of the country's Home Minister Amit Shah in Jagraon to campaign and rally in favor of BJP candidate Ravneet Singh Bittu, the angry farmers turned towards Ludhiana. As soon as this news came to light, there was panic in the police department.

Police sealed the Chowkiman toll plaza between Jagraon, Ludhiana, converting it into a cantonment. During this period the farmers were stopped. Angered by this, the farmers vented their anger against the BJP and kept raising slogans of Amit Shah, go back, go back.

Farmers protested against Home Minister Amit Shah

Farmers wanted to go towards Ludhiana. The police did not allow the farmers to go ahead. According to the information, a rally of the country’s Home Minister Amit Shah was organized in favor of the BJP candidate from Ludhiana.

Around 200 farmers, led by BKU Union leader Manjeet Dhaner, turned towards Ludhiana regarding the BJP rally in Punjab and the announcement of protest by BJP leaders.

During this period, there was a lot of jostling between the farmers and the police to move ahead. The police had made complete arrangements as they had advance information.
