Ludhiana:
Ludhiana is on its way to make new history as Congress and BJP have entered into coalition talks for forming Mayor in the city.
Both Congress district president Sanjay Talwar and BJP district president Rajnesh Dhiman have confirmed that they both do not want the Aam Aadmi Party to form mayor and the councilors of both the parties have agreed for the coalition but they are waiting for high command’s decision.
Talwar said that they are ready for coalition with BJP to form mayor in Ludhiana. “We have talked to all our councilors and they have agreed to it. We are just waiting for BJP’s final decision and then the final announcement will be made,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dhiman also said that it is for the betterment of the city that AAP does not form a Mayor. “We are waiting for the high command’s decision and will go as per the decision.”
In Municipal Corporation elections held on Saturday for 95 wards, AAP councillors won from 41 wards while Congress won from 30 wards, BJP won 19, Akali Dal candidates won from two wards while three wards were won by independents.
Ward 11 winner joins AAP, support increases to 42
Today, an independent candidate Deepa Rani Choudhary who won from Ward number 11 has joined Aam Aadmi Party and with this number of seats won by AAP has reached to 42. But still AAP needs at least six more seats to reach the half-way mark to form the mayor of their party.
AAP is making efforts to influence winning candidates into joining AAP. If other two independent candidates will also join AAP, still AAP will have to get support from winners of opposition parties too.
But if Congress-BJP agrees for coalition, their total seat count will reach 49 and then it will be on them to form Ludhiana’s mayor.
