Ludhiana: Lineman dies of electric shock while fixing power outage; Compensation demanded

Ludhiana, July 11: Last night in Ludhiana, Punjab, a lineman who went to fix a power outage in the Sahnewal area died of electrocution. There is mourning among the employees of Powercom after the lineman’s death. The deceased lineman has been identified as Sanjay Shah (45), a resident of Barota Road Z Mall.

Sanjay Shah is originally from the Samastipur district of Bihar. He works as a lineman in the electricity department. After learning about the lineman’s death, all the temporary employees reached the civil hospital at 11 pm.

Who expressed anger and said that after the death of a lineman, no electricity department official reached the hospital. Until the said lineman does not get compensation from the government, no lineman will work to repair the electricity.

Electrocuted due to stored electricity in the line

Employee Gurpreet Singh said that at the time of the accident, the feeder from behind was off, but due to the electricity stored in the line, he got electrocuted. At the time of the accident, the deceased was not wearing gloves and other safety equipment required for safety. Due to which he became a victim of the accident.

At present, the body of the deceased has been kept in the mortuary of the hospital for postmortem. The next action will be taken after conducting the postmortem of the body today, on Friday.
