Ludhiana: The post of Mayor for Ludhiana City Corporation has been reserved for a woman. Ludhiana local bodies department issued notification in which it is stated that, after the general elections of 5 Municipal Corporations (Amritsar, Jalandhar, Phagwara, Ludhiana and Patiala) on 21st December 2024, the post of Mayor of Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana is reserved for “Women” members and the posts of Mayors of the remaining 4 Municipal Corporations will be General (Open).
It is also mentioned that, while conducting the election for the said posts after administering the oath to the winning members, it should be ensured that only the member from the reserved category is elected as the Mayor.
