Ludhiana: In Ludhiana, a crane crushed a woman and her 1-year-old daughter who were returning to their in-laws’ house after celebrating Bhai Dooj. The woman died in the hospital and the girl died on the spot. The bodies of the mother and daughter have been kept in a private hospital. The police also arrested the crane driver last night. The woman’s family is inconsolable. The name of the deceased woman is Reena and the name of the girl is Yashika.
Giving information to the police, deceased Reena’s husband Ravinder Kumar, resident of village Benda Sangrur, said that he had come to his wife Reena’s maternal home due to the festival. He was going back to his home in Sangrur on a bike with his daughter Yashika and his wife. While going from Sahnewal to Dehlon, when he started crossing the Tibba Canal bridge, the speeding crane driver Nitish carelessly hit them.
Due to the collision, the bike became unbalanced. Due to this Reena and daughter Yashika fell towards the crane. The front wheel of the crane ran over them. Yashika died on the spot while his wife Reena was taken to the hospital in an injured state, but she also died during treatment.
Last night the police raided and caught the accused Nitis who lives near Tibba Road. At present, the police have registered a case against the accused Nitish.
