Ludhiana MP Raja warring to vacate the residence allotted by Punjab govt; Read to know why

Chandigarh: Punjab Assembly has issued orders to newly elected MP of Congress Amarinder Singh Raja Warring. It is also being said that similar notice has also been issued to Sukhwinder Singh Randhawa. Orders are about vacating the government residence allotted to them as MLAs.

According to the rules, orders were issued to them to vacate the house within 15 days on 20 June. However, even after the stipulated time period, they can keep the house for some time. But during this time they will have to pay appropriate rent.

Both have resigned from the post of MLAs

Congress leader Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa was the MLA of Dera Baba Nanak before being elected MP from Gurdaspur. While Amarinder Singh Raja Warring was the MLA of Gidderbaha. He has now been elected MP from Ludhiana. Both have now resigned from the post of MLA. In such a situation when they are no longer MLAs, they will have to vacate the house.

According to the rules, when a house, flat, servant quarters, garage etc. is allotted to an assembly member. If he is no longer a member, then he has to vacate it within 15 days. If for any reason they do not vacate the house in the next 15 days, then they will be charged the affordable rent. If they do not vacate even after that, then 160 times the rent will be charged. This is clearly written in the order sent for vacating the house.
