Approx. 51.33% voting recorded in Ludhiana West by-election

The results will be declared on June 23.

Ludhiana, June 19: Voting was held on Thursday, June 19, 2025 for the by-election on the Ludhiana West assembly seat of Punjab. According to the data released by the Election Commission, 51.33% voting took place till 7 pm. However, the final figures are yet to come.

Its results will be declared on 23 June. Voting began at 7 am and ended at 6 pm. 194 polling stations were set up for voting.

Candidates of all four major parties casted their votes early in the morning.

This seat fell vacant after the death of Aam Aadmi Party MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi due to a gunshot. Interestingly, AAP has fielded its Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora on this seat. If sources are to be believed, if Arora wins from here, then AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal can be sent to Rajya Sabha from Punjab quota.

On the other hand, Akali Dal has fielded famous lawyer Parupkar Singh Ghuman for this seat. Ghuman is the same lawyer who got the accused hanged in Dilroz murder case. Along with this, BJP has given ticket to former minister and senior leader with RSS background, Jeevan Gupta from here.

Let us tell you that there are a total of 1,75,469 voters on this seat, for whom 194 polling stations have been set up. Voting will take place till 6 pm and the results will be declared on June 23.

Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu cast his vote at Malwa School. BJP candidate Jeevan Gupta cast his vote at Jain School, while Aam Aadmi Party candidate Sanjeev Arora reached Guru Nanak Public School with his family to vote. As per election commission, 8.5% voter turnout has been recorded till 9 am.

After casting his vote, AAP Candidate Sanjeev Arora said, “I have cast my vote. I appeal to the people of Ludhiana to cast their vote too.”
