Ludhiana, May 29: In a major political development from Punjab, the Congress party has officially entered the fray for the Ludhiana West bypoll.
Senior Congress leader and former cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu today filed his nomination papers for the upcoming Ludhiana West Assembly by-election. Accompanied by party workers and key local leaders, Ashu reached the election office amid loud slogans and a show of strength.
The Ferozepur road from Ludhiana to Ferozepur is completely jammed, and Ashu’s convoy has a crowd of about 200 to 250 vehicles. Bharat Bhushan Ashu first held a press conference at his office in Sandhu Tower, after then he reached the DC office with his workers.
Independent candidate Engineer Baldev Raj Debi has filed his nomination
So far, an independent candidate, Engineer Baldev Raj Debi, has filed his nomination. It is reported that SAD candidate Advocate Parupkar Singh Ghuman may also file his nomination later this afternoon.
Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) has declared Navneet Gopi as its candidate, who is already active in the election campaign and appealing to the public to vote wisely.
