Ludhiana Youth deported from US arrested by Punjab Police

Gurvinder was arrested late night by the police of Jamalpur police station.

26-year-old Gurvinder Singh, a resident of Sasrali Colony, Ilaka Meharban in Ludhiana, Punjab, was deported by the US in the second group. Gurvinder was arrested late night by the police of Jamalpur police station. A case of snatching has been registered against Gurvinder.

There is a wedding ceremony in Gurvinder’s family. Gurvinder’s family refused to talk to the media citing his cousin’s wedding to be held on Tuesday. Relatives said that they are shocked by the sudden news of Gurvinder’s deportation and are trying to handle the situation without disturbing the wedding celebrations.

According to family members, Gurvinder had gone to America a few days ago after spending three months in transit and paying Rs 45 lakh to a network of travel agents. His father, Dari Singh, who is a constable of Punjab Police and a former soldier, had borrowed a large part of this amount on interest to fulfill his son’s dream of settling abroad.

Gurvinder’s brother is already settled in Canada, and he too was keen to go abroad, due to which he approached various travel agents. The family learnt on Saturday that Gurvinder has been detained by the US authorities for illegally entering the country. They are not sure whether he used the infamous ‘donkey route’ to reach the US.

They have expressed disappointment at the travel agents who charged a hefty amount but failed to ensure a safe and legal route.
