The administration has also issued guidelines regarding the safety of employees for opening shops for 24 hours. The administration has taken this decision to promote business. But this order will not apply to liquor shops, pubs, bars and clubs. Their timing will remain the same as already fixed.

Employees will not be given more than 9 hours of work

The Chandigarh administration has also issued instructions that no employee can be made to work for more than 9 hours and he will also have to be given one holiday in a week. For which there will be no deduction in his salary.

Each employee will be given at least half an hour of rest after working for 5 hours continuously. A maximum of 48 hours of work can be taken in a week. If the shop remains open even after 10:00 pm, then the shop owner will have to ensure adequate security arrangements for all the employees and customers.

Written consent will have to be taken from the female employee

If any female employee is at work after 8:00 pm, then written consent will have to be taken from her. Separate locker, security and rest room arrangements will have to be made for female employees. After the work is over, it will be the responsibility of the shop owner to safely drop the female employee to her home.

CCTV cameras will have to be installed inside the shop. A backup of at least 15 days of recording will have to be kept. Apart from one holiday in a week, female employees will have to be given leave on all government and festival days. If an employee does extra work, he will also have to be paid overtime.
