Employees said that during the meeting held by Finance Minister Harpal Cheema at the Punjab Civil Secretariat on December 26, orders were given to the higher authorities to immediately resolve the demands of the employees, but some district officers of the education department are preventing the employees from giving attendance without any orders from the government.

Employees said that the Chief Minister had given his consent to regularize the office employees on 21 April 2022 and the Cabinet Sub-Committee on 14 March 2024 and as per the orders of the Finance Minister in the meeting of 14 March, the organization had also given an affidavit to the DGSE, but despite this, the employees were not regularized.

During the meeting, Finance Minister Harpal Cheema again ordered the Officers Committee, consisting of officers from the Finance Department, Personnel Department and Education Department, to immediately hold a meeting of the Officers Committee to regularize the office employees and special teachers on the lines of 8886 teachers and submit a report. Along with this, the second demand was to deduct 5000 salary of the office employees and increase the salary of the mid-day meal office employees.

Issuing a press statement, leaders of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Mid-Day Meal Office Employees Union Shobhit Bhagat, Gagandeep Sharma, Vishal Mahajan, Gaurav, Gagan Sial announced that the government is serious about the demands of the employees but the officers are deliberately harassing the employees and due to this the employees will gather outside Shiksha Bhawan Mohali on January 9 and march towards the residence of the Chief Minister in Chandigarh. The leaders said that after the decision of the Chief Minister, the Cabinet Sub-Committee took decisions to regularize the raw employees and remove the salary deduction and gave orders to the officials 4 times but the officials of the Finance Department are deliberately confusing the issue.

Employees said that the Finance Minister had given strict instructions to the officers and the Finance Minister has assured to hold another meeting with the organization on January 7, 2025, but no letter has been issued yet regarding the meeting on January 7. The leaders said that if any policy of delay is adopted towards the demands even now, the employees will be forced to completely close the gate by surrounding the head office of the Education Department on January 9 and if concrete action is not taken on the demands, the gate will be kept closed continuously.
