Jalandhar: The 76th state-level Republic Day was celebrated in Jalandhar today amid tight security. Cabinet Minister and Punjab Aam Aadmi Party President Aman Arora hoisted the flag. The tricolor was hoisted at around 9.58 am today.
More security was deployed this time than last year. No person, media personnel and personnel of any other institution were being allowed entry without a pass or invitation.
More than 4000 children from ten schools participated in the function. The program was organized at Sri Guru Gobind Singh Stadium, the most prominent area of the city. The administration and police are very alert about today’s Republic Day program. After hoisting the flag, Minister Arora took a round of the entire ground in his car. During this, a parade was conducted by the police and children danced on folk songs.
The minister said – We reached here today because of Baba Sahib
Minister Aman Arora started his speech by raising the slogan of Bharat Mata Ki Jai. Minister Aman Arora said- This is a happy occasion for the city. Hearty congratulations to the people who reached the stadium. This is a big moment for me, because I got a chance to celebrate Republic Day in a city like Jalandhar. We are living in the world’s largest republic.
Minister Arora said- Today we have reached here because of Baba Sahib. Baba Sahib Ambedkar is the reason for this respect. The day the Aam Aadmi Party government was formed in Punjab, from that day itself changes started coming in the government work in Punjab. We removed the photos of leaders from the officers’ offices and put up pictures of Baba Sahib. Also, an airport was given to Punjab in the name of Baba Sahib.
