Missing for four days, Daughter of AAP leader found dead near Canada beach

The body of a 21-year-old Indian girl was recovered near beach in Canada. As per reports, the deceased is the daughter of leader from the Aam Admi Party (AAP) in Dera Bassi and was discovered under unexplained circumstances in Ottawa, Canada, on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Vanshika saini.

The body of Vanshika Saini, daughter of Davinder Saini from Saini Mohalla, was located near a beach in Ottawa. She had been unaccounted for since April 22, when she went missing from her rented residence. Davinder Saini, who serves as the block president of AAP and oversees the office of local MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa, learned of her disappearance on April 25 through a friend who alerted the family.

Following this, he contacted the police, who advised him to reach out to the embassy in Ottawa online and file a missing person report, according to a senior police official.

Saini mentioned that a postmortem examination has been performed, and it will take some time before the body can be repatriated. The last communication the family had with Vanshika was via phone on April 22. MLA Randhawa expressed his condolences during a visit to the family, stating, ‘We are profoundly saddened by Vanshika’s passing. She excelled academically in her school in Dera Bassi and was thriving in Canada.

Davinder is a close associate and manages my office. This is a significant loss for us as well.’ The MLA also noted that he had informed party MPs, including Raj Kumar Chabbewal and Balbir Singh Seechewal, along with other senior leaders, to assist the family in repatriating the body.

High Commissioner of India in Ottawa also reacted to the death of 21 year 21-year-old under suspicious circumstances. The post on X read, “We are deeply saddened to be informed of the death of Ms. Vanshika, a student from India in Ottawa. The matter has been taken up with concerned authorities and the cause is under investigation as per local police. We are in close contact with the bereaved kin and local community associations to provide all possible assistance.”
