Challans issue with help of cameras in Mohali

About 400 high-resolution cameras are being installed in the city.

Chandigarh: In Mohali, with the help of cameras, challans will now be issued. For this, the work of installing cameras is being done by the Punjab Police Housing Corporation. Today, the Special DGP of Punjab, Sharad Satya Chauhan, will lay the foundation for the City Surveillance and Traffic Management System. 

The traffic system of the entire city will be monitored through these cameras. When these cameras start working, on the lines of Chandigarh, an online challan will be issued for violating traffic rules in Mohali and will be sent directly to the home.

Five months ago, the project of installing cameras on roads was approved. However, due to the code of conduct for Lok Sabha elections, it could not be started. After getting approval from the Mohali Municipal Corporation and the Greater Mohali Development Authority, work has commenced on it. This project was allotted in February. A private company from Delhi is doing the work of installing cameras in Mohali.

Earlier, four attempts were made to install such cameras in Mohali. But this tender was approved on the fifth attempt. Earlier, these tenders had to be cancelled due to technical bids or financial bids. This project of Rs 17.70 crore has been kept for installing these cameras in Mohali. Earlier, the company that tried to take on this project had given a proposal of Rs 25.46 crore. But there was no agreement on it. Due to this, it had to be rejected.
