Ludhiana, September 10:
As the PWD department has found some damage in a section of elevated road of southern bypass between BRS Nagar and Jawaddi, the PWD officials have written to district administration and the police for the closure of the movement of heavy traffic on this stretch.
As per the PWD, “There are signs of distress in a section of the deck slab of the Pakhowal Rail Over Bridge on Ludhiana-Doraha Road (Southern Bypass). In the interest of public safety, it is requested that heavy traffic be restricted from using the bridge until the necessary inspections and repairs are conducted.”
ACP Traffic Charanjiv Lamba said that the department has received the letter and the discussions are on to finalize the diversion route to ensure smooth movement of traffic during this closure. “We will try to implement it from Wednesday, so that the repair work can be done timely,” he said.
