The National Security Act (NSA) imposed for the third time on Khalistan supporter and Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh, who is lodged in Dibrugarh jail in Assam, will now be challenged in the High Court. The family has decided to challenge the NSA imposed on him in the High Court.
The family argues that Amritpal Singh is not being allowed to come out of jail as part of a conspiracy. All parties are worried about Amritpal Singh’s growing popularity. NSA has been removed from all his associates. All of them were brought to Punjab only last month. Also, legal cases are going on against them.
The family claims that Amritpal was put in jail, and now various allegations are being made against him while he is incarcerated. They question the government about the purpose of keeping him in jail under such circumstances, calling it highly unconstitutional. They also note that he is labeled as very dangerous, with claims that his release would cause significant harm, despite him winning an election with the highest votes in Punjab.
The family asserts that he is not a threat to anyone except political parties, whose political ground is slipping. They are allegedly creating this narrative to counter him. Amritpal’s lawyer states that, regardless of how the case began, it has now become a matter of freedom of expression.
