MP Amritpal’s close aide Daljeet Singh Kalsi retracts decision to contest election from Dera Baba Nanak

Daljeet Singh Kalsi, close aide of MP from Khadoor Sahib in Punjab Amritpal Singh, has retracted his decision to contest the elections. Daljit Kalsi has been detained under the National Security Act (NSA). He had earlier announced to contest the by-election from Dera Baba Nanak assembly constituency in Punjab.

Kalsi’s wife shared this information while talking to the media and said that she had met Kalsi in Dibrugarh jail. Daljeet Singh Kalsi, a close aide of Amritpal Singh, had earlier planned to contest the by-election from the Dera Baba Nanak assembly constituency. But now he has retracted his decision and decided not to contest the elections. He is member of the Punjabi film industry and lodged in jail since March last year.

Daljeet Singh Kalsi is known as Amritpal Singh’s advisor and financial aide. He is not only associated with Amritpal but also played an active role in his political movement. After announcing to contest the elections, Kalsi had sought support from his family and supporters for election preparations. Kalsi and his other associates are already detained under the National Security Act (NSA) and are lodged in Dibrugarh Jail.

Dera Baba Nanak Seat was vacated after Congress leader Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa resigned after being electing as an MP. The By-election on four assembly seats will be held on November 13 and counting of votes will be held on Nov 23.
