Kapurthala: In Kapurthala of Punjab, State Food Commission member Vijay Dutt today conducted a surprise inspection at various government ration depots, government schools, and Anganwadi centers in the Sultanpur Lodhi subdivision of Kapurthala and reviewed the beneficial schemes.

Commission member Vijay Dutt checked the government ration depots of Mohalla Mori and village Toti of Sultanpur Lodhi, the government elementary school and the Anganwadi center of village Maniyala, the government middle school, the government elementary school, and the Anganwadi center of village Toti.

Commission member Vijay Dutt expressed displeasure over the absence of a Punjab State Food Commission helpline number in any government school, government ration depot, or Anganwadi center during the tour and was directed to install the helpline number of the commission as soon as possible.

He said that if any beneficiary has any complaint regarding the schemes of the National Food Security Act, then he can register his complaint on the helpline number of the commission. Apart from this, the commission has given instructions to conduct health checks on the students of the schools and also on the midday meal workers.

Commission member Vijay Dutt gave instructions to maintain the midday meal food test register in schools, to provide clean food to the children, and to take care of cleanliness while preparing and serving food. The commission member talked to the school students regarding the midday meal. The commission member also checked the TDS of drinking water in the schools. The member gave instructions that the TDS of the drinking water in the school and the quality of the water should be checked from time to time by the concerned department.

Commission member Vijay Dutt said that most of the in-charges and helpers of Anganwadi centers are not aware of the latest schemes of the government, which is a matter of concern; hence, they should also be trained from time to time so that they can show the right direction to the beneficiaries.
