Chandigarh, June 16: Controversial pastor Bajinder Singh, currently serving a jail sentence in a rape case, is facing a new legal setback. The Punjab administration is preparing to reclaim agricultural land in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh, allegedly encroached upon by the pastor near his former church premises. This move comes following a court decision that ruled in favour of the local farmers who had accused the pastor of illegal land occupation.
According to reports, Bajinder Singh, who once gained popularity as “Yeshu-Yeshu”, is alleged to have taken over land belonging to farmers and used it to expand the activities of his religious establishment. The dispute between the pastor’s organisation and local landowners had been ongoing for an extended period, with multiple appeals and complaints filed against the encroachment.
After reviewing the evidence and hearing arguments from both sides, the court has ruled in favour of the aggrieved farmers, prompting the district administration to begin the process of reclaiming the occupied land. Officials are expected to reach the site shortly, where they will initiate the removal of unauthorised constructions on the disputed land.
Sources indicate that local farmers’ groups and civil society organisations have welcomed the court’s verdict and are actively coordinating with authorities to ensure swift and peaceful implementation. The farmers plan to meet with administrative officials today to discuss the timeline and logistics of the upcoming eviction drive.
This latest development adds to the mounting legal troubles for Bajinder Singh, who has been embroiled in controversy since his arrest in connection with a rape case involving a female follower.
