No person will be able to sell firecrackers except licensed places: DCP Jagmohan Singh

Jalandhar: Regarding selling and bursting of firecrackers on Diwali, Deputy Commissioner of Police Jagmohan Singh, using the powers under Section 144 of the Criminal Code, has ordered that no person will be able to sell firecrackers anywhere except in licensed places. Also, firecrackers will not be sold from unlicensed shops anywhere within the limits of Commissionerate Jalandhar.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police has said in the orders that firecrackers will not be burst near silence zones like hospitals and educational institutions. The license holder will be allowed to sell only approved firecrackers from a licensed firecracker factory or company while foreign firecrackers which pose a threat to people’s life and health will not be allowed. It has been said in the orders that action will be taken against those who violate the ban on foreign firecrackers.

Scheduled time for bursting crackers:

The time for bursting crackers on Diwali has been fixed from 8 pm to 10 pm. During Christmas and New Year, firecrackers can be burst from 11.55 pm to 12.30 am. The scheduled time for bursting crackers on Guru Parva will be from 4 am to 5 am and from 9 pm to 10 pm.

These orders will be applicable from 09.11.2023 to 08.05.2024.
