No relief to sacked DSP Gursher in Lawrence interview case; HC adjourns hearing till April 9

Rather, the Anti Gangster Task Force had taken him into its custody from the very first day.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has not yet given relief to DSP Gursher Singh, dismissed from Punjab Police. The High Court has adjourned the hearing on his petition till April 9. Gursher Singh has filed a petition in the High Court claiming that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was never in his custody.

Rather, the Anti Gangster Task Force had taken him into its custody from the very first day. Despite this, he was fired from the job without any valid reason. He has demanded that the court hear his side and protect his family.

In the hearing held on Thursday, the High Court refused to give any relief to Gursher Singh for the time being. The court said that since he has already filed a petition in the Supreme Court, the High Court cannot hear it.

The SIT constituted on the instructions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court had accused 7 officers and employees of negligence and carelessness during duty. After this, orders were issued to suspend everyone on 25 October 2024.

The officers and employees who were suspended included officers and employees from DSP to Head Constable rank. These included DSP Gursher Singh (9 Battalion based in Amritsar), DSP Samar Vaneet, Sub Inspector Reena (posted in CIA Kharar), SI Jagatpal Jangu (posted in AGTF), SI Shaganjit Singh (AGTF), ASI Mukhtiar Singh and Head Constable Om Prakash.
