NSA on MP Amritpal Singh: Hearing in High court deferred till August 28

The matter will be heard in the Chief Justice's court on August 28.

The case of removing the National Security Act (NSA) imposed on Amritpal Singh and his associates has intensified after recent comments made by Jalandhar MP and former CM Charanjit Singh Channi. Meanwhile, the case of NSA on Amritpal Singh’s colleagues was challenged in the High Court today. The hearing started but matter was later posted till August 28 by the court.

The High Court is taking this matter seriously and has been referred from the bench of justice to the special case of the Chief Justice. The matter will be heard in the Chief Justice’s court on August 28.

It should be known that Amritpal Singh’s colleagues Guri Aujla, Gurmeet Singh Bukkanwala, Kulwant Singh and Basant Singh have challenged the action taken against them under NSA in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. In their petition, they termed the NSA imposed on him as wrong and illegal.

During the hearing of this case, the court had issued notice to the Centre, Punjab government, and Dibrugarh jail superintendent. The High Court had earlier sought some information about the Act from the Dibrugarh jail superintendent. Information related to the jail was provided by him to the court.

Yesterday, Jalandhar MP Charanjit Singh Channi voiced in favor of Khadoor Sahib MP and Warris Punjab De Chief Amritpal Singh. Today Amritpal’ parents extended thanks to Channi for speaking in favor of him.
