Today, a hearing will be held in the Punjab Haryana High Court regarding the National Security Act (NSA) imposed on Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh. But before that, another of his associates, Virendra Singh Fauj, will soon be brought to Punjab. The period of the National Security Act (NSA) imposed on Virendra Singh has expired, after which a team of Ajnala police reached the Dibrugarh jail in Assam to take him.
At the same time, today the Punjab government will also clarify its position in the Supreme Court regarding Amritpal Singh. It is expected that Amritpal Singh can also be brought to Amritsar as his companion. After Virendra Singh’s return to Amritsar, now only Amritpal Singh and his companion Pappalpreet Singh are left in Dibrugarh jail.
Earlier, 7 companions of Amritpal Singh were also brought to Punjab, prominent names of which include Daljit Singh Kahanwal, Gurmeet Singh Bhagna, Varinder Singh, Harpreet Singh, Jaspal Singh, Bhupinder Singh and Kulwant Singh. All of them were arrested under NSA in March 2023 after the activities of ‘Waris Punjab De’ organization and the attack on the Ajnala police station and sent to Dibrugarh jail.
Developments so far in the Case
In March 2023, action was taken against Amritpal Singh and his close associates under NSA.
Apart from Amritpal Singh, 9 other associates were sent to Dibrugarh jail.
In the past months, 7 associates were brought to Punjab, where legal action is going on against them.
Now after the NSA period of Virendra Singh Fauji ends, the process of bringing him to Punjab has also been started.
