12 MPs from Punjab took oath: Amritpal Singh did not reached; will have to take special bail due to NSA

The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha began on Monday, in which newly elected MPs including Prime Minister Narendra Modi took oath. Meanwhile, 540 parliamentarians were sworn in. Meanwhile, the newly elected Lok Sabha members of Punjab will take oath today.

New Delhi: Today, 12 out of 13 MPs from Punjab took oath for the 18th Lok Sabha. Amritpal Singh, who won from Khadoor Sahib, will not be able to take oath today as he is in jail under the National Security Act. All 13 MPs from Punjab were given time today afternoon by the MP office.

In the beginning, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, who won from Gurdaspur, took oath first. After which Gurjeet Singh Aujla of Amritsar took oath. Gurjeet Aujla took oath with the Constitution in his hand. In the end, he also raised the slogan of Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan and Jai Samvidhaan. Amritpal Singh’s name was taken, but he was not present.

After that, former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, elected from Jalandhar, MP from Hoshiarpur Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal, Malvinder Singh Kang from Sri Anandpur Sahib, Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Dr. Amar Singh, Sarbjit Singh Khalsa from Faridkot, Sher Singh Ghubaya, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hair and Dr. Dharamvir Singh Gandhi took oath.

Amripal Singh’s name was taken after Gurjit Aujla took oath. But he was not present in the Parliament due to being in jail. Due to which he was not sworn in today. After this, Jalandhar MP and former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi was sworn in.
