Nihang Sikhs kills young man in Tarn Taran

Dispute over money transaction: Father and son were cut with swords in the house. 

Tarn Taran: On Tuesday, 7 Nihangs killed a young man by cutting him with swords in Patti town of Tarn Taran district of Punjab. The condition of the young man’s father and brother remains critical. Nihangs had attacked them in a fight over a money transaction. Some people wearing Nihang entered the victim’s house and cut the father and son in front of the family. Both were taken to the hospital in an injured state, where the son died.

The incident took place in Ward No. 6 of Patti. The deceased has been identified as Shammi Puri. While the injured have been identified as Karan Puri and Rajan Puri. Family members said that 5 Nihangs came to the house in the afternoon and started a fight with Shammi Puri. In the fight, the Nihangs took out their swords and started cutting whoever came in their way. The police are engaged in further action after recording the statement of the family.

The victim’s family told the police that this attack happened due to money transactions. Investigating officer Jaspal Singh, SHO of City Police Station, who reached the spot, said that some people had money transactions with Shammi Puri. Shammi had to give them Rs 1.75 lakh. Due to this, some people wearing Nihang banners came and carried out the incident.

After the incident, SSP Tarn Taran Ashwani Kapoor also reached the spot. Seeing him, the residents of the area started protesting against the government and the police administration. After which he left the spot after talking to the officials.
