Orange alert for rain in 9 districts of Punjab: Temperature drops by 5 degrees, highest 23°C in Abohar

Chandigarh: Due to the change in weather due to the activation of western disturbance, a warning regarding rain has been issued in Punjab even today. Orange alert regarding rain has been issued in 9 districts of Punjab and yellow alert in 9 districts.

The Punjab government has also changed the timings of government schools, the timings will be changed from tomorrow, March 1. After the rains in the last few days, the average maximum temperature in the state has dropped by 5.7 degrees Celsius. This is 2.6 degrees Celsius below normal. The highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded in Abohar at 23.2 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, an orange alert has been issued for Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, SAS Nagar and Rupnagar in Punjab today. At the same time, a yellow alert has been issued for rain in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Moga, Ludhiana, Barnala, Sangrur, Patiala and Fatehgarh Sahib.

From March 1, all government primary schools in the state will operate from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, while middle and high schools will operate from 8:30 am to 2:50 pm.

As of now, the timings for primary schools in the state are from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, while the timings for middle and high schools are from 9:00 am to 3:20 pm.

Temperatures will remain below normal even today

Due to western disturbance, the maximum temperature of Punjab remains below normal. Even today there will not be much change in the temperature and it will remain 4 to 5 degrees below normal. But after 24 hours the temperature will increase by 3 to 4 degrees. At the same time, the minimum temperature is expected to remain normal.

No alert has been issued in Punjab after today. But there is a possibility of light rain in some areas on 1 and 3 March.

Amritsar- An alert has been issued regarding rain and strong winds in the city today. There will be a slight drop in temperature. The temperature can remain between 15 to 21 degrees.

Jalandhar- An alert has been issued regarding rain and strong winds in the city today. There will be a slight drop in temperature. The temperature can remain between 15 to 24 degrees.

Ludhiana- An alert has been issued regarding rain and strong winds in the city today. There will be a slight drop in temperature. The temperature can remain between 17 to 23 degrees.

Patiala- An alert has been issued regarding rain and strong winds in the city today. There will be a slight drop in temperature. The temperature can remain between 16 to 24 degrees.

Mohali- An alert has been issued regarding rain and strong winds in the city today. There will be a slight drop in temperature. The temperature can remain between 17 to 24 degrees.
