Amritsar, May 5: The Border Security Force (BSF) has arrested a Pakistani citizen on the India-Pakistan international border. The accused was arrested on the border near village Thakurpur. His identity card has been recovered from the accused. His identity card is written as Hussain and he is a resident of Gujranwala.
During interrogation, it was revealed that he had entered the Indian border unknowingly, and no objectionable item was recovered from him.
The BSF has handed over the arrested person to the Punjab Police. The police is investigating further. Officials say that the case is being investigated from every angle so that the possibility of a conspiracy or security lapse cannot be ruled out.
Such cases have come to the fore earlier also
Earlier also, on 6 February 2024, the BSF had caught two Pakistani citizens crossing the border in two separate incidents. At the same time, in October last year, a Pakistani citizen was stopped while entering Indian territory near Ghazniwala village in Punjab. At that time, the BSF had lodged a formal protest with the Pakistan Rangers and the intruder was handed back on humanitarian grounds.
Concern over ever-increasing infiltration
Such repeated incidents on the border have become a matter of concern for the security agencies. Even though in many cases it is described as “unintentional intrusion”, the repeated occurrence of such incidents demands increased surveillance and intelligence on the border.
