Chandigarh: The Punjab government has decided to hold panchayat elections in the state. The government has issued a notification for the elections. The elections will be held before October 20. The Panchayat Department will send this notification to the State Election Commission. The Election Commission will release the schedule for the panchayat elections accordingly.
It is believed that the election code of conduct may be imposed after September 23. However, elections for the Municipal Corporation and Municipal Council will be held after this.

If government sources are to be believed, the elections can be held on October 13. The Rural Development and Panchayat Department had recently sent the file for the panchayat elections to the Chief Minister. Which has been given the green signal by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
The Principal Secretary of the Department of Legal and Statutory Affairs of the State Government had issued a notification in this regard on September 16. At the same time, now with the process being started by the Rural Development Department, it has become clear that the elections will be held before October 20.
