Doctors on strike in Rajindra Hospital today, OPD services to remain shut

Punjab Civil Medical Services Association Punjab has also supported the strike of resident doctors.

OPD will remain completely closed in Rajindra Hospital in Patiala, Punjab, today. Doctors will keep only emergency services running. The strike started by the Resident Doctors Association (RDA) on Saturday against the mandatory two-year service bond after MBBS and non-increase in stipend for MD/MS residents will continue today as well.

Strike extended due to lack of consensus in the meeting

RDA officials announced the strike after no consensus was reached in the association’s meeting with Health Secretary Kumar Rahul on Sunday. Punjab Civil Medical Services Association Punjab has also supported the strike of resident doctors.

Patients’ surgery postponed

With this, OPD service will remain completely closed in the government Rajindra Hospital today, Monday. Due to the strike of resident doctors, surgeries of patients in the hospital have also been postponed. In this case, doctors claim that emergency services will not be affected in any way. RDA President Ramandeep Singh told the media that the association’s meeting with Health Secretary Kumar Rahul was good.

The government asked for 15 days to fulfill the demand

Of course, the government has said that the demands are justified but has asked for 15 days to fulfill them. They say that they will end the strike only after receiving a written order. Let us tell you here that the patients who want to get their checkup done can go to any civil hospital or Ayushman clinic in the district and get their treatment done.

Protests are happening due to these reasons

Recently, the state government has increased the MBBS fees in government medical colleges to Rs 10 lakh, due to which the financial burden on medical students has increased considerably. Resident doctors are angry about getting high fees and low stipends.
