Ludhiana: Patients of the Civil Hospital in Ludhiana are very upset due to the non-receipt of reports from the testing lab. From Friday morning to Saturday evening, reports of 250 to 300 patients are pending in the lab. A software update by American anti-virus company Crowdstrike affected Microsoft.
This caused 95% of the computers running on the Microsoft operating system across the world to shut down from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday (July 19). Many patients came to get their test reports on Saturday morning too, but had to return empty-handed. This is not the condition of Krishna Lab alone; there are many such institutions across the city whose systems have been completely shut down. Among these are many private banks whose work was hanging in balance.
While talking, Mahesh, in charge of Krishna Lab Civil Hospital, said that due to software problems, there is a lot of difficulty in getting the reports of the patients. Till now, reports of 250 to 300 patients are pending. As soon as the system starts, medical reports of people will be taken out immediately. People are also asked to be patient.
Talking about this software update has slowed down the speed of essential services like flights, trains, hospitals, banks, restaurants, digital payments, stock exchanges, TV channels, and supermarkets across the world. The biggest impact was seen at airports. Around 4,295 flights had to be cancelled across the world.
