Pen Down strike: Work halted for the third day, to launch a protest on February 28

Jalandhar: Looking at their issues not getting resolved despite promises being done, the employees have announced to continue their strike. Continuing their three-day symbolic strike, employees have announced a protest on February 28 outside the Chief Minister’s residence, Chandigarh.

The strike continued for the third day as well. The employees are angry on the fact that despite decision taken by the cabinet sub-committee, the officers committee is not holding a single meeting for the last two and half months.

Office employees are considered the backbone of governments to run the state, government and department, but the education department of Punjab has been discriminating against the office employees regardless of the government of any party.

  Despite the decision taken by Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Mann, Education Minister Harjot Bains and the cabinet sub-committee to regularise the contractual employees of the education department, the work  has not been put into practice.
