Jalandhar temple robbery incident: Youth arrests for theft

He used to steal offerings from the donation box, and the priest kept an eye on him for many days.

Jalandhar: In Jalandhar, people have caught a youth red-handed stealing money from the donation box of the Ashutosh Shiv temple located on Dhogri Road, Hargobind Nagar, under police station number 8. The priest of the temple and the people have alleged that the youth has been caught stealing offerings from the donation box. The accused youth has been handed over to the police.

Pandit Tarikasur Pandey of the temple told me that he had been keeping an eye on this youth for many days. Pandit says that the accused used to come to the temple at the time when he used to go to his home for food. Today, he was caught red-handed stealing offerings from the donation box by putting chewing gum on a stick. During the search of the accused, 2200 rupees were recovered from his pocket.

ASI Dharmpal, who reached the spot, said that the arrested youth was referring to his name as Shiva. Pandit and the people have alleged that he was caught red-handed while stealing. ASI said that after an investigation, a case will be registered and further action will be taken.
