Person desecrated Gutka Sahib near Sri Darbar Sahib, accused arrested on spot

A person living near the Golden Temple in Amritsar tore pages of Gutka Sahib outside the Sri Guru Arjan Niwas Sarai built in the complex late on Monday night and disrespected it. Security has already been tightened around the complex due to the anniversary of the Blue Star Operation.

Despite this, the congregation got enraged after this incident. The accused was caught and beaten up. The arrested person has been identified as Gurpreet Singh and he lives near the Golden Temple. The accused was beaten up and handed over to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).

He is still silent on why he did this act. At present, the police have taken him into custody and started investigation. The accused has not yet clarified why he took this step.

ADCP Jasroop Baath informed that after receiving information about the attempt to disrespect the Gutka Sahib, the police have started action. The accused has been caught. A statement has been written and a FIR has been registered. The person taken into custody has been arrested and action is being taken.

Ghalughara Day is observed every year on June 6 to mark the anniversary of Operation Blue Star, during which security in Amritsar remains on high alert.
