Pickup van with 250 liquor boxes caught in Mohali; 2 drug smugglers arrested

The drug smugglers have been identified as Amandeep Singh and Joginder Singh alias Raju resident of Baghapurana district Moga.

Taking advantage of the fog in Punjab, liquor smugglers have also become active. Mohali Police and Excise Department have caught a Bolero pickup full of liquor at a check post late at night. 250 boxes of liquor sold in Chandigarh have been recovered from the Bolero. During this, two drug smugglers travelling in the car were arrested.

The drug smugglers have been identified as Amandeep Singh and Joginder Singh alias Raju resident of Baghapurana district Moga. A case has been registered against the accused at Kharar Sadar Police Station under sections of the Punjab Excise Act 1914. Police say that this action will continue further.

The Excise Department suspected that liquor smugglers become active in this season. Keeping this in mind, special check posts are being set up under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner (Excise), Mohali Ashok Malhotra. Meanwhile, on the night of January 7, a check post was set up in the village of Gharuan near the flyover check post on Ludhiana-Chandigarh road.

During this, the pickup was stopped at the checkpoint. After this, liquor was recovered from the vehicle. When the people in the car were asked about this, they could not give any proper answer. Also, they could not show any documents. Meanwhile, the police have started investigating them.
