New Delhi: A high-level meeting is going to be held today in Delhi under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the projects of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) going on in Punjab. Apart from NHAI officials, officials of Punjab government will also be present in the meeting chaired by PM Narendra Modi.

During this, a report will be presented on all the issues including the problems arising regarding land acquisition of Delhi Amritsar Katra Express Highway. On the other hand, Punjab and Haryana High Court is also strict about the matter of land acquisition. In the hearing held recently, HC has asked the Punjab government to complete the land acquisition process in two weeks. The reply is to be filed by the Punjab government in this matter in the High Court on September 6.

As soon as the meeting was fixed regarding the projects of NHAI, the Punjab government also became active. A letter was written to DGP Gaurav Yadav by Chief Secretary Anurag Verma. In the letter, he had written that the Prime Minister would review the progress of Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway on August 28.

Anurag Verma directed DGP Yadav to complete the land acquisition for the Delhi-Amritsar Express Highway. He said, “After reviewing this matter with the Deputy Commissioners, it has been found that two very small but important areas in Malerkotla (a distance of 1.34 km) and Kapurthala (a distance of about 1.25 km) are to be captured. This has to be taken by August 27, 2024.”

Anurag Verma asked DGP Yadav to complete the process of land acquisition in Malerkotla and Kapurthala before the PRAGATI meeting chaired by PM Narendra Modi.
