Partap Bajwa’s 50 Bombs claim: SAS Nagar Police issue summons, to appear before 12 noon

A case has been registered against Bajwa under sections 197 (1) (D) and 353 (2) of the BNS.

Mohali: Senior Punjab Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Pratap Singh Bajwa has landed in trouble after an interview given to a TV channel. An FIR has been registered against him at the State Cyber ​​Crime Police Station in Mohali. A case has been registered against Bajwa under sections 197 (1) (D) and 353 (2) of the BNS.

At the same time, the police will interrogate him in Mohali. He has been called for questioning at 12 noon. The summons were to his house. However, he was not at home when the summons were sent. On the other hand, Congress party MLAs and MPs have come out in support of Bajwa.

The Superintendent of Police (City), SAS Nagar, issued an appearance notice to Punjab LoP and Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa.

The notice read as follow, “In pursuance of Sub Section (3) of 35 Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, I hereby inform you that during the investigation of FIR No. 19 Date 13/04/2025 U/S 353(2), 197(1) D BNS registered at Police Station Cyber Crime Phase 7, SAS Nagar. It is revealed that there are reasonable grounds to question you to ascertain facts and circumstances from you in relation to the present investigation. Hence, you are directed to appear before me at 12 PM, today at Cyber Crime Police Station, Phase 7.”

It all started after the grenade attack on BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia’s house in Jalandhar. Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa got into trouble by giving a statement about 50 bombs coming to Punjab. An FIR was registered against him on Sunday. Bajwa claimed that 50 bombs had come to Punjab.

On his claim, the state government sought an answer that Bajwa should explain how he came to know that so many bombs had come to Punjab? Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann issued a video and warned that if Bajwa did not reveal the source of the information about the bombs coming to Punjab, then action would be taken. Counter Intelligence AIG Ravjot Kaur Grewal went to Bajwa’s house and interrogated him. Now meanwhile, summons have been issued to appear before SAS Nagar police today.
