Pre-monsoon rain in Punjab brings respite from scorching heat, IMD predicts yellow alert for rain in these districts

Jalandhar: The weather has become pleasant due to rain in many districts of Punjab in the early hours of Thursday. The spell of rain has brought much-needed respite for the people. People were very disturbed due to the extreme heat for last many days. Apart from Mohali and surrounding areas, Malwa region received rain.

Due to rain in Jalandhar, the mood of the weather has changed. Due to the heavy rain in Jalandhar in the morning around 4:30 am, the maximum temperature of the metropolis has also dropped. Heavy rain is expected in the coming days. The first monsoon rain in Jalandhar has given relief to the people from the scorching heat.

Ludhiana district also received light drizzle after cloud cover in the morning. The weather changed on Wednesday evening with strong winds and light rain at some places. At 5 am today, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for rain and strong winds in 11 districts of Punjab till 9 am today i.e. Thursday.

Districts to receive rainfall as per IMD

Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ludhiana, Rupnagar, Moga, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Hoshiarpur, Amritsar and Gurdaspur may experience rain with strong winds.

Due to pre-monsoon, the average temperature of the state has dropped by 2.1 degrees. After rains in Himachal and Haryana, humid conditions have developed in Punjab. Along with this, Amritsar was the hottest city in the state with a temperature of 42.3 degrees last evening.
