Chandigarh: Government bus service in the state will be disrupted for 3 days. PRTC and PUNBUS buses will not run on 6, 7 and 8 January. PRTC and PUNBUS Employees Union have announced to protest in front of the Chief Minister’s residence in Chandigarh regarding their demands. Due to this, those traveling in government buses on 6, 7, and 8 January may face huge inconvenience.

PUNBUS and PRTC Contract Employees Union, which is fighting for its demands, had prominently raised the demand for the regularization of contract employees by submitting a memorandum to ministers across Punjab last month. In this connection, last month the employees of Jalandhar Depot 1 and 2 met Cabinet Minister Mahendra Bhagat and various MLAs of Doaba at their residence.

The delegation that reached the residence of the Cabinet Minister was led by President Bikramjit Singh, Satpal Singh Satta, Jasbir Singh, and senior leader Chanan Singh Channa, among others. The union officials handed over the memorandum to Mahendra Bhagat and apprised him of the demands of the union.

After handing over the memorandum to the ministers and MLAs, the union also addressed the gathering at the local bus stand. Bikramjit Singh said that due to the delay in regularizing the temporary employees, the union is being forced to blow the bugle of struggle.
