Chandigarh: The annual examinations of classes 8th and 12th of Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) will start from today (19 February). 2579 centers have been set up across the state for the examinations. More than 8.82 lakh students will appear in the examinations.
The examinations for class 10th will start from 10 March. This time a special tracking system has been prepared to prevent leakage of question papers. The question paper will also be opened in the presence of students in the examination center and their signatures will be taken.
Special flying teams have been formed to make the examinations free from cheating, which will conduct surprise checks of the examination centers. If a case of mass cheating is caught anywhere. Then departmental action will be taken against the staff posted at that examination center. All the expenses incurred in conducting the examination will be put in the account of the staff posted on duty.
If any case of cheating is caught in any center, then the center superintendent will not be paid wages until the case is resolved. Education Minister Harjot Singh said that proper arrangements have been made by the government. He wished the children all the best for the examination.
According to PSEB, a total of 302189 students will appear in the 8th class examination. While 284658 students will appear in the 10th class examination and 272105 students will appear in the 12th class examination. The board has set up a total of 2579 examination centers across the state for the examinations.
2579 superintendents and 3269 deputy superintendents have been appointed for the examination. A control room (0172-5227136, 137, 138) has also been set up at the main office to monitor the board examinations. Complaints received in the control room will be heard on priority basis.
