Crackdown on drug mafia in Punjab: Police demolish absconding smuggler’s illegal house in Amritsar

As part of the ongoing campaign against drugs, the Panchayat Department took this action with the help of the police.

Amritsar, July 17: Today, the police demolished the illegal house of a drug smuggler in Amritsar. As part of the ongoing campaign against drugs, the Panchayat Department took this action with the help of the police. The department demolished the illegal house of drug smuggler Gagandeep Singh in the border village Bhure Gill.

District police chief Maninder Singh said that 6 cases are registered against Gagandeep Singh in several districts of Punjab. The accused had illegally occupied panchayat land in village Bhure Gill and built a house. The village panchayat and the sarpanch passed a resolution against this.

Land handed over to Gram Panchayat

BDPO Ramdas Pawan Kumar demolished the house with the help of police. Possession of the land was handed over to the Gram Panchayat. SP Headquarters Aditya Warrior said that Gagandeep Singh is absconding. All the cases against him were registered between 2021 and 2025. He came out of jail in 2024 and is absconding.

His family is also not in this house. He said that the accused had built this house with the money earned from drug business. Police have warned other drug smugglers to either give up their wrong activities and join the mainstream or be ready to go to jail. Police will soon take action against other drug smugglers too.
