Chandigarh: The Punjab Police personnel deployed for the security of Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice NS Shekhawat have been removed. Along with this, Chandigarh and Haryana police will now be responsible for their security. This decision has been taken by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
The next hearing of this case will be held on October 1. Meanwhile, Punjab Police will submit an affidavit related to its investigation in the court. It will also tell what action they have taken in the case registered in this regard. However, the court has considered this case as a direct lapse in security which is a serious subject.
What’s the matter?
On September 22, Justice NS Shekhawat reached the Golden Temple for darshan. Meanwhile, people deployed for their protection were present there. ASI Ashwani was present with the escort vehicle. Meanwhile, a person suddenly came and took away the ASI’s pistol. Before anyone could do anything, he shot himself. The judge was immediately surrounded by security personnel. Punjab and Haryana High Court itself has taken notice of this matter as soon as it came in the media.
The first FIR was registered regarding the incident of September 22, while the second FIR was registered regarding the stopping of Justice Shekhawat’s vehicle by farmers and mobs in Barnala on September 23, as Justice Shekhawat’s vehicle was stopped by farmers in Barnala on that day. The High Court said it was a serious case of lapse in security of the judge, an inquiry should be held and a report submitted on October 1.
