At the same time, strict punishment and fine will be imposed on those marketing substandard seeds. For this, amendment has been made in the Seed Act. The tenure of the staff transferred from Rural Development Department to Animal Husbandry Department has been extended by one year. Now the officers serving in VAT will be given salary as per the rules of Punjab Government.

These 5 decisions taken by the Punjab Cabinet are important –

1. A meeting of the Punjab Cabinet was held, in which many important decisions were taken. Earlier the age limit for filling Group-D posts was 18 to 35 years. Now the maximum age has been increased by two years to 37 years. In such a situation, now candidates up to 37 years will be able to apply for these posts.

2. Cases related to the “Integrated Rural Development Program” under the One Time Settlement Scheme were pending for a long time. There was no amendment in this Act since the Punjab State Act 1935. At that time, industries were given 2 thousand to 10 thousand rupees as seed money. This matter was pending for a long time. The government has now settled it. Now a loan of Rs 97 crore has been waived, which will benefit 1,054 beneficiaries. Out of this, the government will get back Rs 11.94 crore.

4. The chairman and members of the Punjab Value Added Tax (VAT) Tribunal earlier received the same salary as High Court judges.

5. Now the pay scales of the Punjab government will be implemented for them. This will reduce the burden of salary, rent house and allowances like DA on the government treasury. In view of the problem of supply of poor quality seeds in Punjab, the government is bringing the ‘Seed Bill 2025’. The sections of the Seed Act 1966 made by the Government of India have been amended.

If the same crime is repeated, then there will be a punishment of two to three years and a fine of 10 lakh to 50 lakh rupees.

If the dealers are found guilty for the first time, they will be sentenced to 6 months to 1 year and fined Rs 1 lakh to 5 lakh. If the crime is repeated, the punishment will be 1 to 2 years and the fine will be Rs 5 to 10 lakh. The government will bring a new policy regarding food grain transport and carriage policy.
