Chandigarh: Giving Diwali gift to the traders of the state, the Cabinet under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann approved GST. Green signal has been given to implement One Time Settlement Scheme (OTS) to settle the dues before implementation. This decision was taken during the meeting of the Council of Ministers under the leadership of the Chief Minister at the Punjab Civil Secretariat here this morning. Here are some of the key decisions taken by Cabinet under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
‘Chief Minister Tirth Yatra Scheme’ from 27th November
The Cabinet has given green signal to start ‘Chief Minister Tirth Yatra Scheme’ on the occasion of Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji on 27th November so that the people of the state can travel to various pilgrimage places across the country. The facility will be available free of cost to the people of the state.
Approval to increase ex-gratia for disabled soldiers
The Cabinet has decided to increase the ex-gratia grant of physically disabled soldiers. According to this decision, the ex-gratia grant for soldiers who are physically rejected from 76 percent to 100 percent has been increased from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 40 lakh. Similarly, the ex-gratia grant for soldiers whose disability is 51% to 75% has been doubled from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh and the ex-gratia grant for soldiers whose disability is 25% to 50% has been increased from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. This step has been taken with an aim to look after the interests of ex-servicemen and their families and ensure that they lead a good life in the society.
Approval of amendment in ‘The East Punjab War Awards Act-1948’
The Cabinet has approved the amendment in ‘The East Punjab War Awards Act-1948’, due to which the financial assistance of 83 beneficiaries has been increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 annually. The Punjab Government provides Janghee Jagir as financial assistance to those parents whose only children or two to three children have served in the Indian Army during the Second World War, National Emergency 1962 and 1971 under ‘The East Punjab War Awards Act-1948’ . In this regard, the Punjab Government has announced that the only children or two to three children of parents who served in the Indian Army during the Second World War, National Emergency-1962 and 1971 under ‘The East Punjab War Awards Act-1948’ The amount of Jangi Jagir given to the Brahmins will be increased from Rs 10,000 per annum to Rs 20,000 per annum.
Approval to create provincial cadre of Patwaris and Kanungos
To make the functioning of the Revenue Department more streamlined, the Cabinet has approved the creation of state cadre of Patwaris and Kanungo. With this, apart from preparing and maintaining land related property records, old property records can also be maintained, which will provide great convenience to the people. This step will help in reducing litigation due to errors in land records.
Post-work approval of formation of sub-committee related to contract employees’ struggle committee
The Cabinet directed the Contract Employees Sangharsh Morcha Punjab, Land Acquisition Sangharsh Committee and other gazetted and non-gazetted SC, B.C. Post-action approval has been given to the formation and amendments of sub-committee related to Employees Welfare Federation Punjab and others. G.O.G. Representatives for issues related to the 31-member core committee and sub-committees for issues related to the 31-member core committee have been formed.
Administrative reports of various departments approved
The Cabinet has approved the Annual Management Reports of the Police Department and Vigilance Bureau, Punjab for the year 2020 and 2022 respectively. The annual administrative reports of Social Security and Women and Child Development for the years 2022-23 and 2019-20 have been approved.
